Coastal Resources Commission To Meet Jan. 26 & 27 in Atlantic Beach

RALEIGH – State coastal policy makers next week will discuss issues such as beach nourishment sand compatibility and shoreline access.

The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission will meet Thursday and Friday, Jan. 26 and 27 in Atlantic Beach at the Sheraton, 2717 Fort Macon Road. The meeting, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, is open to the public.

The following items are on the CRC’s agenda:

  • Increase in Minor Permit Fees (I&S Committee, 1:30 p.m. Thursday) – Coastal Management staff will present a request to increase fees for CAMA minor permits.
  • Draft Sediment Criteria Rules Stakeholder Comments(I&S Committee, 1:30 p.m. Thursday) –Coastal Management staffwill provide an overview of stakeholder comments to the Division’s draft rules for sediment criteria for beach nourishment projects.
  • Town of Oak Island Land Use Plan Amendment(P&SI Committee, 1:30 p.m. Thursday) – The commission will vote on an amendment to Oak Island’s Land Use Plan.
  • Variance Requests(9 a.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday) – The commission will hear requests for variances from the state’s coastal management rules.

The Coastal Resources Advisory Council, a group that provides the CRC with local government perspectives and technical advice, will meet at 3 p.m. Wed., Jan. 25, at the Sheraton.
